I am creating a student magazine aimed at a either a female or male audience, ranging from the ages of 16-21. The magazine is a student magazine and the audience we are aiming to appeal to is post-modernists and hedonists as most students want to enjoy life as it is now and have fun and play and work later. So this magazine has to connote fun and enjoyment and link in with a student life style.
The masthead denotes 'Student Zone' and will be positioned along the top, left hand side of the page above the main sell. The type of text we will use will be a sans-seriff and will be red to make it be bold and stand out.
The main sell of the magazine will denote a picture of a male student, slouched against a brick wall, topless. He will have his head tilted upwards and will be staring at the camera. This connotes rebellion and mischieve. The fact he is topless connotes sexual availability and will there for appeal to the female audience. Also having a young male student will connote fashion, fun, youthfullness, freedom and enjoyment which is typical of a teenage student.
Our magazine will always include cover lines which will use a different and smaller font to the masthead, and they will be written in black so they are clear and easy to understand, as well as a date an issues number, a price which will appear to a student so not too expensive and finally a bar code.
